Shift Solenoid Diagnosis. The diagnosis begins with a scanner and a DMM. A scanner identifies the faulty solenoid or it's a related circuit. If the scanner described a high-power circuit code, check the solenoid's ground side and follow the flow chart. If there's a low power code, use the DMM to check the solenoid's power feed.
Hi All. I have a 65 plate 1.5 focus with automatic transmission. Recently the stop-start has stopped working completely. Prior to it not working, when it kicked in, it felt like it was throwing the car forward when the engine restarted.

Also if you want your transmission oil to run cooler while towing, I recommend downshifting to a higher RPM around 3000-3500. I used to do this in my F350 Superduty with engine and trans temp gauges and when the engine runs faster and hotter, the transmission runs cooler. However at some point it may all get too hot.
The fact this issue has been known since 2011 and a recall has not been forced on Ford is ridiculous. To add insult to injury-I just paid the car off. The 2012 Ford Focus has 11 problems reported
